Overview
Childhood obesity now threatens one in four children with long-term health problems. In order to develop successful childhood obesity prevention strategies, better understanding of maternal perceptions of obesity as well as maternal and child feeding behaviors is essential. Through research, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, Dr. Powers and his research team have been examining these associations. This research has resulted in numerous research publications and the development of a provocative video which poignantly highlights struggles families face which may interfere with implementing obesity prevention strategies.
