Overview
Susmita Kashikar-Zuck, PhD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, specializes in behavioral treatment of children and adolescents with chronic pain. Her research program focuses on studying the psychological aspects of pediatric pain including adjustment and coping of the children and their families, long term outcomes of children and teenagers with chronic pain and assessing the effectiveness of multidisciplinary approaches to pain management for children. She is conducting behavioral clinical trials to test the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral treatment of pediatric pain conditions such as juvenile fibromyalgia and chronic headaches in children. Dr. Kashikar-Zuck is also interested in understanding family factors in chronic pain and pain related disability. She is one of the primary psychologists at the Multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Clinic which was awarded the 2007 Centers for Clinical Excellence in Pain Management Award by the American Pain Society.
