Meet the Lab Members

Jennifer Reiter-Purtill, PhD (jennifer.reiter-purtill@cchmc.org)
Jennifer Purtill. Jennifer Reiter-Purtill earned her doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2004. Her main area of interest is in health psychology. Her research interests focus on the examination of peer relationships, emotional well-being, and family functioning of children and adolescents with chronic medical conditions, including pediatric obesity. Dr. Reiter-Purtill is currently a Research Fellow working within Dr. Meg Zeller's lab group.

Ashley Morgenthal.

Ashley Morgenthal graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a BS in Psychology in May 2005. Upon graduation she began working at Children’s Hospital as a sleep research coordinator for Dr. Raouf Amin in the CCHMC Division of Pulmonary Medicine. In April 2008 she transitioned to Dr. Meg Zeller’s Lab and is a research assistant for the Outlook, TeenView and Teen Intake studies.

In the future, Ashley aspires to continue her career development as a research coordinator and to pursue a Masters degree in Genetic Counseling.

Faye Riestenberg, BS (faye.riestenberg@cchmc.org)
Faye Riestenberg

Faye Riestenberg graduated from Xavier University with a BS in psychology in May 2006. Upon graduation she began working as a research coordinator in the Division of Rehabilitation for Dr. Shari Wade whose work focuses on pediatric traumatic brain injuries. Faye began working for Dr. Meg Zeller's Lab in May of 2008 and is a research assistant on the Outlook, TeenView and Teen Intake studies.

In the future, Faye aspires to continue her career development as a research coordinator.

Shanna Guilfoyle, MA (shanna.guilfoyle@cchmc.org)
Shanna Guilfoyle. Shanna M. Guilfoyle is an O’Grady Resident in Psychology in the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2000. She received her Master of Arts degree in 2005 from Kent State University and anticipates completion of her doctoral degree in August 2009. Shanna is working with Dr. Meg Zeller for the research rotation during her O’Grady residency. Shanna looks forward to a career incorporating both clinical and research work within pediatric psychology. Professional goals include researching caregiver characteristics and their influence on pediatric disease management and the relative impact of adherence as a clinical outcome.
Megan Ratcliff, PhD (megan.ratcliff@cchmc.org)
Megan Ratliff. Megan Benoit Ratcliff earned her MPH in Behavioral Science from Emory University in 2001 and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2007. Her primary interest is in understanding multi-systemic influences on child and adolescent overweight and encouraging preventive health behaviors through the use of motivational interviewing. She is currently a T32 research fellow working with Dr. Meg Zeller on developing a grant and writing several manuscripts.

 

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows

During the summer, the Zeller lab mentors undergraduate students through Cincinnati Children's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program.

Demi Bruck
  Demi Bruck, now a senior at Michigan State University, filled the SURF position during the summer of 2008. While working under Dr. Meg Zeller and her research team, Demi experienced the entire psychology research process; from observing grant submissions all the way to collecting and presenting data. During this ten week fellowship she was also able to become involved clinically by shadowing various psychology-related centers, including the headache, pain, weight management, and transplant clinics.
