Pulmonary Biology

What's New

The Division of Pulmonary Biology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center received five years' funding for a Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) from the NHLBI to study transcriptional controls of lung development. The role of growth factors and transcription factors on lung development and repair following injury are being studied. Project leaders are James Lessard, PhD; Jeffrey Whitsett, MD; Ward Rice, MD, PhD; and James M. Greenberg, MD.

Ann Marie LeVine, MD, has joined the division and has initiated work in host defense in the lung. She will also attend in the Critical Care Division at Cincinnati Children's. Bruce Trapnell, MD, also joined the division. He brings excellence in gene transfer, lung injury and repair and will focus research activities to the roles of macrophages in lung injury and repair.
