Pulmonary Biology

Overview

The Division of Pulmonary Biology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center includes 13 full-time faculty. The division's goals include basic science research; research training at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels; and clinical care. Four faculty members of the Pulmonary Biology Division attend in Neonatology, one in Human Genetics.

Our research goals focus to the molecular and cellular events required for normal perinatal pulmonary adaptation. Lung morphogenesis, gene regulation, pulmonary injury and repair, surfactant homeostasis, antioxidants, transcriptional factors, structure and function of surfactant proteins comprise the major interests of the group. Surfactant replacement therapy, gene or protein therapy to the respiratory tract comprise major long-term clinical aspects of the program.
