Clinical Activities
The division's clinical activities include provision of inpatient, consultation, day program, and outpatient services. Our comprehensive inpatient and pediatric family-centered rehabilitation programs received full three-year accreditation by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in September 1997. Cincinnati Children's program is one of only two accredited pediatric rehabilitation programs in the State of Ohio and one of three in the Tristate area.
Outpatient clinical activities include clinics in pediatric rehabilitation, spasticity management and EMG, as well as participation in multidisciplinary clinics including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, neuro-oncology, and wheelchair clinics. Satellite clinics in pediatric rehabilitation are offered monthly at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in northern Kentucky and quarterly in Portsmouth, Ohio. Saturday clinics were instituted in February 1998 and are offered three Saturdays per month at Cincinnati Children's to increase access, especially for those families who find it difficult to take time off during the week to bring their child for elective visits.
During the past year, the Division has also participated in several CHMC initiatives, including those in neurosciences, complementary and alternative medicine, chronic care, obesity and injury prevention.
