The research interest of the lab
is to study the molecular mechanisms of asthma pathogenesis and develop novel
pharmacological therapies for asthma. We utilize both in vitro and in vivo approaches
to elucidate the biological functions of interleukin-13 receptors and farnesoid
X receptor in development of allergic asthma. The long-term goals are to
advance our understanding of the molecular basis for asthma and help find a
cure for asthma.
1.) Epigenetic regulation of DDAH expression in asthma. The goal of
this project is to determine the effect of environmental factors including
allergens and diesel exhaust particles on expression of dimethylarginine
dimethylaminohydrolases (DDAHs) in the development of asthma.
2.) Role of ADAR RNA editing enzymes in the pathogenesis of allergic asthma. The goal of this project is to determine the role of RNA editing/adenosine
deaminases acting on RNA (ADARs) in the development of allergic inflammation
