Each principal investigator is directly responsible for the daily medical care of patients admitted for an inpatient stay to the Clinical Translational Research Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center under his or her protocols.
The investigator and / or his or her designated associate(s) are responsible for the admission history and physical examination, a daily progress note, medication reconciliation, and a discharge summary for each patient on the inpatient unit or scatter bed. This function may be assigned to a fellow or resident on the investigator’s service, with the investigator serving in a supervisory capacity.The investigator’s team is responsible for coverage of patients 24 hours a day during the participant’s entire inpatient visit. The CTRC staff must have access to investigators through pagers or phone numbers at all times during participant visits. The program director is available for calls in case of an emergency.Upon admission, all patients are scheduled through the CTRC scheduling email address (CTRCScheduling@cchmc.org) or by calling the Research Nursing Core charge nurse for immediate needs.
