Research Themes

Digestive Health Center (DHC) Investigators and Associate Members are faculty who have research programs with a digestive disease element. The DHC members are organized into four different themes.  Several members have research interests that overlap more than one theme of the DHC but for clarity are listed only once.

Our four themes are:

1. Chronic Liver Disease

  • Biliary atresia
  • Cholestatic liver diseases
  • Liver transplantation

2. Inflammatory and Diarrheal Diseases

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGIDs)
  • Infectious diarrhea

3. Obesity and the Digestive System

  • Overweight
  • Metabolic complications of obesity

4. Development and Digestive Diseases

  • Molecular basis of organogenesis
  • Adult stem cell and homeostasis
  • Intestinal organoids from stem cells

Our Core Directors also have their own active research programs.
