About Us

The Biomarker Laboratory grew out of the discovery of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), a promising new early diagnostic marker of kidney injury. The lab, founded by Prasad Devarajan, MD, and directed by Stefanie Benoit, MD, MPH, is housed in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation. Through collaborative and fee-for-service arrangements, the lab has grown into a wide-ranging service and research provider for clinicians and investigators across the globe.
