Devarajan Lab Research

Our research focuses on three areas:

  • Investigating the mechanisms, biomarkers and novel therapies for acute kidney injury
  • Studying the pathogenesis and biomarkers for focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
  • Identifying lupus nephritis molecular pathways and biomarkers

For each of these conditions, we employ an integrated approach of genomic and proteomic research using animal and human models. We then work to translate, validate and commercialize our findings.

In my research, we are actively investigating mechanisms that cause the kidney to fail acutely and chronically. The results of these investigations are providing us with novel biomarkers to predict kidney disease, and also with new pathways we can target with innovative therapies. We are at the forefront nationally and internationally in the care of children with kidney disease.
