Grossoehme Lab

  • Volunteer Opportunities

Our lab includes undergraduates who want to participate in research studies. Persons able to provide 5-10 hours per week for at least one semester and who have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher are welcome to make their interest known to us.

Depending on the studies that are in development or in progress at any time, students will learn relevant theories of human behavior, construction of meaning, and mixed-method research design. Volunteers contribute to our research efforts by direct interaction with health care providers, patients and family members in recruitment or data collection; data entry; coding interview transcripts and or video tapes; maintaining regulatory records and ensuring privacy and compliance.  Volunteers may participate in meetings of this or related labs and other research seminars.

All volunteers must complete the hospital’s process to obtain a non-employee badge. This includes a background check, TB and other relevant medical checks and may include drug screening.  This process may take 4-6 weeks to complete, so prospective volunteers should make their interests known to us in sufficient time prior to the beginning of each semester.  Volunteers will complete CITI training (protection of human research participants) when they begin with us if they have not already done so.

Volunteers may obtain academic credit for their learning and experience. 3 undergraduate credits require 10 hours per week for a semester. If you are interested in obtaining credit, please let us know.
