There are numerous exciting research activities going on within Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation at all times. We'd like to highlight just a few.
- The New Center for Computational Medicine, in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, received a Wright Centers of Innovation grant from the Ohio Third Frontier Program. The Center for Computational Medicine will push Cincinnati Children's and Greater Cincinnati to the forefront of bioinformatics.
- The Molecular and Gene Therapy Program focuses on improving the technology used for gene transfer and understanding the biology of the cells that need to receive these transfers. The hope is that this understanding will allow researchers to translate this technology into a therapy that can be used to treat diseases like cancer at the genetic level.
- The Division of Developmental Biology at Children's Hospital Research Foundation of Cincinnati is undergoing a major expansion with the goal of becoming the premier center for research and training in the field. Under the leadership of Christopher Wylie, PhD, the focus of research will be expanded with emphasis on understanding the genetic, cellular and molecular bases of organogenesis.
- The Skin Sciences Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital provides a center of excellence and an organizational umbrella for scientists with expertise in epidermal barrier development, keratinocyte biology, wound healing, melanocyte biology and pigmentary disorders, biomedical engineering, optical imaging, quantitative image analysis, stratum corneum physiology, skin restoration, and clinical dermatology.
