Overview
The Edward L. Pratt Library supports the strategic goals of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in patient care, teaching and research by harnessing information and facilitating its transformation into knowledge that can be used to drive innovation and decision making; by providing access to appropriate information in appropriate formats for the people who need it — anywhere, anytime; by increasing the availability and utility of applications that organize and integrate information to support decisions and actions.

The library opened in 1931 with the founding of the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation. Since then, it has supported the work of investigators with a dynamic, needs-driven collection of books and journals, and a knowledgeable librarian to manage the collection.
Today, the library's collection continues to expand with computer-assisted access to information resources and on-demand delivery of materials from outside collections.
Collections include 4400 print books and about 40 electronic books; 385 current print journal subscriptions (about 200 also available electronically) and about 400 additional journal titles available via electronic access.
The staff includes one masters-degree librarian, two paraprofessional librarians, and two experienced assistants.
Although major changes continue in information creation and collection, the Pratt Library stays on or near the cutting edge of new methods to build intellectual capital.
In addition, the library provides a comfortable and friendly atmosphere in which to develop the intellectual endeavors of a growing group of investigators, clinicians, and all those involved in patient care, teaching and research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
