Claire Peterson, MA

Claire Peterson earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2005 and graduated in 2007 with her MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton.  For the past five years, Claire has conducted research in the following areas; personality traits and maintenance of addictive behavior, the relationship between exercise, body image, and eating disorder symptoms, and injury prevention in adolescents. 

Claire is currently a Study Coordinator for Dr. Dennis Drotar in the Center for Adherence and Self-Management.  She is working on the following studies for Dr. Drotar:

• Illness Management in Children and Young Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes
• Promoting Treatment Adherence in Adolescent Leukemia

In the future, Claire hopes to attend a PhD program in Clinical Psychology.

Jennifer M. Shea, M.A.

Jennifer Shea graduated from the University of Dayton in May 2007 with a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology. During her graduate training, she worked at the Montgomery County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities as a Clinical Trainee. Jennifer also was a Teaching Assistant for Undergraduate and Graduate Statistics, Developmental Psychopathology, and Introductory Psychology; and a Research Assistant in a Cognition Laboratory. Jennifer's Master's Thesis examined emotional states and implicit and explicit memory processes.

Jennifer graduated from the University of Cincinnati in June 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She was a member of several honor societies, and a RA in two psychology research labs. Jennifer also completed a Senior Honor's Thesis that examined adolescent's empathic tendencies towards peers with facial disfigurements.

Jennifer is currently working with Dr. Dennis Drotar on two NIH-funded research projects. The first project is Illness Management in Children and Young Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (S.M.A.R.T. Study). The second project is Promoting Treatment Adherence in Adolescent Leukemia. If you would like to learn more about one or both of these studies, please see our additional pages.
