Korey K. Hood, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology and faculty member in the Center for the Promotion of Treatment Adherence and Self-Management. Dr. Hood's research program focuses on the interaction of psychological conditions, family functioning, adherence, and health outcomes in pediatric type 1 diabetes.

Dr. Hood is currently in the fourth year of a K23 career development award from NIDDK. Research associated with this award examines the impact of child and caregiver psychological conditions, such as depression and anxiety, on adherence and health outcomes in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. Further, long-term follow-up of families with a child with type 1 diabetes explores patterns of adherence and the development of depression and anxiety during the course of the disease. Dr. Hood just recently had a R03 grant funded that focuses on delivering an intervention to depressed teens and their families to help them reduce depressive symptoms and family conflict. Further, the intervention also attempts to improve diabetes management.
