Korey K. Hood, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology and faculty member in the Center for the Promotion of Adherence and Self-Management. Dr. Hood's research program focuses on the interaction of psychological conditions, family functioning, adherence, and health outcomes.

Dr. Hood is currently in the third year of a K23 career development award from NIDDK. Research associated with this award examines the impact of child and caregiver psychological conditions, such as depression and anxiety, on adherence and health outcomes in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. Further, long-term follow-up of families with a child with type 1 diabetes explores patterns of adherence and the development of depression and anxiety during the course of the disease. Development of an intervention to treat depression and anxiety, while promoting healthy family interactions, is underway.

Dr. Hood continues to collaborate with investigators at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachusetts to examine the interplay of genetic, immunologic, and environmental factors in both the diagnosis and long-term management of type 1 diabetes.
