Healthy Development Collaborative
Overview
Promoting healthy development is core to caring for young children. The learning collaborative is designed to guide physician offices through the development and implementation of new and creative approaches to anticipatory guidance for parents of children birth to age 5. Its goal is to support primary care practices in engaging families in a partnership that meets their needs to promote positive behavioral and developmental outcomes for their children.
In addition to regular collaborative activities, the Center for Health Care Quality at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has been funded by The Commonwealth Fund to conduct an evaluation of the Healthy Development Collaborative method. To date, there are few evaluations of learning collaboratives to improve child health care.
The Healthy Development Collaborative Evaluation will test whether the QI learning collaborative methodology is effective in changing office systems to improve preventive developmental care families with young children receive. With this collaborative we have the opportunity to contribute to broadening the knowledge base about how to assist practices in translating evidence into practice.
