Hemoglobinopathy Laboratory
The Hemoglobinopathy Laboratory is part of the Division of Hematology in the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute. The laboratory performs qualitative and quantitative tests that lead to the diagnosis and treatment of hereditary disorders that principally affect erythrocytes in the pediatric and adult populations. These disorders include hemoglobinopathies, hereditary hemolytic disorders such as glucose-6-dehydrogenase deficiency, thalassemia, and other hemoglobin variants.
