Special Hemostasis & Thrombosis Laboratory
New Testing Now Available
The laboratory is now offering the Aspirin Resistance Assay and the P2Y12 Assay on the VerifyNow® Platform. These are simple, whole blood assays for the evaluation of platelet function in patients on aspirin or P2Y12 inhibitors such as Plavix®. These tests could benefit patients going to surgery, who have been taking aspirin or Plavix®, and had their anti-platelet therapy held prior to surgery. Preoperative testing can be used to document recovery of normal platelet function. These tests could also benefit patients on P2Y12 inhibitors or aspirin, to monitor drug resistance or patient adherence. Download the Platelet Test Requisition Form for ordering/collection instructions or the Platelet Test Descriptions for more information regarding all platelet tests available.
