Healthy Adults 18 to 65 Needed for Brain Development Research Study
What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this research study is to improve
EEG techniques and examine how the brain responds to sensory stimuli such as
sounds or pictures.
An EEG is a test that measures and records the electrical
activity of the brain (or “brainwaves”).
Who can participate?
Healthy adults 18 to 65 years old with no history
of mental illness or head trauma may be eligible to participate.
What is involved?
You will be in the research study for about 2
hours and have 1 study visit.
During your study visit, you will take part in an
EEG test. Tiny disk electrodes will be placed on top of your scalp and will
record brainwave activity in response to sounds or images you see or hear while
watching a computer screen.
What are the benefits?
You will not
receive a direct medical benefit.
However, the information gained from this study may help our understanding of language development
and language and attention disorders in the future.
Will I get all the facts about the study?
As someone
interested in participating, you will be given a consent form that thoroughly
explains all of the details of the study. The form covers all of the
procedures, the risks, the benefits, the pay, who to contact with questions or
concerns and more. A member of the study staff will review the consent form
with you and will be sure that all of your questions are answered.
Do participants receive pay, compensation or reimbursement?
Participants will receive $20 for
their time and travel.
