Eczema Study for Children 6 to 12 Years Old
Why are we doing this research?
Cincinnati Children's is conducting a research study, sometimes known as a clinical trial or clinical study, to learn about certain skin characteristics and how those characteristics are related to the severity of eczema and the skin’s response to different treatments. This research study is NIH funded and is part of the Atopic Dermatitis Research Network (ADRN).Who can participate?
Children 6 to 12 years old who have eczema and who either:
- have taken the study drug Dupilumab
- have not taken Dupilumab
Conditions
- Dermatology
- Allergy
What will happen in the study?
This study includes 10 visits to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Here are some of the things that will happen in this study:
Your child will have:
- Skin swab
- Skin tape
- Blood draw
- Surveys
- Skin assessments
What may happen in the study?
- Topical steroid use
- Dupilumab injections
Participants/Caregivers will be given a consent form that thoroughly explains all of the details of the study. A member of the study staff will review the consent form with you and will be sure that all of your questions are answered.
What are the good things that can happen from this research?
Our ultimate goal through these studies will be to develop evidence-based, precision medicine approaches to address disease in the most severe eczema patients. Knowledge from this study may allow development to help eczema patients and dupilumab non-responders.
What are the bad things that can happen from this research?
We will discuss possible risks or discomforts with those interested in learning more about the study.Will you/your child be paid to be in this research study?
