The Cochlear Implant Program at Children's
The Cochlear Implant Program at Cincinnati Children’s treats severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss (nerve deafness) through early intervention and comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents, along with their families.
With cochlear implants, we may be able to provide your child with functional hearing levels by implanting a device into the inner ear. It is important to understand that not all children with severe to profound hearing loss will be candidates to receive cochlear implants. We work closely with you to determine what treatment meets your child’s unique needs and your family’s communication preferences.
If our evaluation indicates that your child will not benefit from hearing aids, cochlear implantation may be a preferred treatment option.
