Cochlear Implant Program

  • Our Evaluation Process

Our team conducts a thorough evaluation of your child before determining whether cochlear implants are an option to treat his condition. The evaluation may include several audiologic tests, as we determine the severity of your child’s hearing loss. We may also conduct imaging tests, such as CT or MR scans, of your child’s inner ear. The aim of this comprehensive evaluation is to determine if there are any additional  treatment options for your child's hearing loss.

If we determine that cochlear implants could help your child’s hearing, our team members in audiology, otolaryngology (ENT), speech-language pathology, social services and developmental pediatrics evaluate your child to identify any special factors or care needs to address in your child’s care plan.

Once the evaluations are complete, our team meets to discuss your child’s case and the appropriateness of a cochlear implant. We contact you after this meeting to discuss our recommendations and plan the next steps in treating your child’s hearing condition.
