ARMS Outreach Program
Beginning in 1980 when Alberto Peña, MD developed a new operation to repair congenital malformations of the anus and rectum until the present, he and his team Dr. Marc Levitt, Dr. Jason Frischer, Dr. Michael Helmrath and Dr. Belinda Hsi Dickie have operated on nearly 3000 children for anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung's Disease, and other issues related to the bowel, including constipation and fecal incontinence. As the only comprehensive and multidisciplinary center of its kind, patients come from all over the world to seek treatment from the center. In addition the Center’s surgeons frequently travel to teach treatment techniques, and to assist in surgeries with doctors and nurses from around the world. The Center has cared from children from 80 countries and from all 50 United States.
