    Biography

    After graduating from the US Air Force Academy, Derek D. Fletcher, MD, served as an Air Force officer for seven years and attained the rank of Captain.  He then entered medical school in 1998.  In 2002, Dr. Fletcher graduated in the top 20% of his medical school class and was then accepted into the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center General Pediatrics program in 2002, and graduated in 2005.  Dr. Fletcher then joined the Center for Infants and Children with Special Needs, founded by Ron Levin, MD, where he provides comprehensive, family-centered primary care for medically fragile children.

    Biography

    Hilary Flint, DO is a board- certified pediatrician who specializes in palliative medicine, pain and symptom management as well as care for medically fragile children. Originally from Mississippi, Dr. Flint completed a pediatric residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Blair Batson Children’s Hospital. After developing an interest in pediatric palliative medicine, Dr. Flint pursued a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

    Dr. Flint moved to Cincinnati after completing her fellowship and joined the Pediatric Palliative and Comfort Care Team (PACT) at Cincinnati Children’s where she focuses on enhancing the quality of life for children with life-threatening conditions. In keeping with her interest in caring for children with medically complex disease, Dr. Flint also joined the Center for Infants and Children with Special Needs where she practices family-centered, comprehensive care.

    Dr. Flint is passionate about caring for children who are suffering from complex or life-threatening conditions. She, along with an interdisciplinary team, accomplishes this by assessing and treating the unique physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families under her care.

    Biography

    David Hall, MD is a clinical professor of pediatrics and the director of the Diagnostic Referral Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

    In addition, he is the director of the Center for Infants and Children with Special Needs, which  is a program that provides a medical home care for patients with medically complex chronic disease.  

    He is a member of the James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence.

    Prior to coming to Cincinnati, Dr. Hall was the medical director of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, a 250 bed tertiary care children’s hospital, where he was involved in many quality and process improvement initiatives and served as a pediatric hospitalist.

    Dr. Hall has been elected to “Best Doctors in America” by his peers for 10 consecutive years.

    Children with chronic and complex disease; quality improvement in health systems for chronic care

    Biography

    Dr. Jennifer Lail joined the Anderson Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in September 2012 as assistant vice president for chronic care systems. For thirty-one years prior, she practiced clinical pediatrics at Chapel Hill Pediatrics and Adolescents, P.A. with a particular interest in the health care delivery for children with special health care needs (CSHCN). She served as affiliate faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at both Duke and the University of North Carolina. With a three-year grant from NC Title V, her practice served as a demonstration project for Medical Home Quality Improvements for Children with Special Health Care Needs.  Implementation of practice strategies that improve care for children and youth with chronic conditions has been her particular interest, including development of clinical registries, care coordination programs, family engagement, pre-visit care planning, improved communications with subspecialists and transition planning for CSHCN. Dr. Lail led her practice in Level 3 NCQA certification and re-certification at two office sites.  She is a member of the AAP Partnership for Policy Implementation and served as the quality improvement expert for the AAP Newborn Screening Policy Statement Authoring Committee for their clinical report published in Pediatrics in January 2008.   She is a member of the AAP Council on Children with Disabilities, the AAP Quality Improvement Innovation Network, and the AAP Specialist-Medical Home Leadership Team.  Currently, she serves on the AAP’s Project Advisory Committees for the Medical Home and the Medical Home Chapter Champions Program on Asthma and cares for patients in Cincinnati Children’s Center for Infants and Children with Special Needs.
