The Molecular Genetics Laboratory at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides prenatal diagnosis for selected genetic disorders. All cases for which prenatal diagnosis is requested must be discussed with our genetic counselor prior to sample submission. In most cases, confirmation of parental carrier status is required before prenatal diagnosis can be undertaken.
Please send 20 mg chorionic villi in culture media at room temperature via overnight Federal Express.
Alternately, 1 or 2 T-25 flasks grown to confluence is also acceptable. Please retain at least one flask as a back up culture until analysis is completed.
Please include 3cc peripheral blood from the mother in an EDTA (purple top) tube for STR identity analysis.
Please send 20 cc amniotic fluid at room temperature via overnight Federal Express.

Please label and date all samples and enclose test requisition with sample(s). All information must be completed before sample can be processed. Place sample in Styrofoam mailer and ship at room temperature by overnight Federal Express to arrive Monday through Friday.
