Endocrinology Clinical Laboratory

The Endocrinology Clinical Laboratory supports the Division of Endocrinology at Cincinnati Children’s and is committed to providing the highest level of diagnostic specimen testing for children and adolescents with endocrine system disorders.

Thanks to our commitment to research, we are able to care for patients using the latest advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders. We offer a full range of diagnostic tests geared specifically toward children, including radiologic evaluations and biochemical procedures for measuring circulating hormones.

The Endocrinology laboratory was established in 1978 to provide sample testing to the physicians and patients of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Our services are used to diagnose and treat endocrine conditions such as endocrine and adrenal disorders, diabetes, obesity, skeletal health disorders, Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy, Fanconi anemia, growth disorders, abnormal puberty and sex development, thyroid disorders, neuromuscular disorders, Turner syndrome, and cancer treatments.

We are also involved in several clinical research studies here at Cincinnati Children’s.

Our lab is certified by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and we adhere to the standards of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

Our current testing menu includes insulin, cortisol, human growth hormone (hGH), follicular stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), IGFBP-3, and dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate (DHEA-S).

For our current testing schedule, please see the Clinical Lab Index.

Please contact your physician’s office in the Division of Endocrinology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for assistance in result interpretation and additional information during stimulation tests.
