The Diagnostic Clinic assists community physicians who wish to refer infants, children and teens for second opinions or consultations. We help physicians evaluate complex problems or difficult to diagnose illnesses that don’t fit easily into a subspecialty. In addition, we can help when it is unclear which service or subspecialist would be most appropriate for a child’s problem, or when you need a second opinion or reassurance on a problematic patient.
Appointments are available most days of the week.
Please note that for children with mental health or learning disabilities, referral to either the Psychiatry Division or the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics is recommended.
Patients are scheduled to fit the needs of the family and referring physician. To avoid unnecessary duplication of tests or procedures, we ask that you fax copies of appropriate medical records before the visit. The referring physician will receive a written report and a phone call from the consulting physician after the consultation.
We will send a map, directions and parking instructions to the family. Parking is free. If the patient’s family comes from a distance to Cincinnati, guest services and the concierge service at the hospital can assist with arranging a visit and appointments for the family.
Patients referred for consultation will be seen by faculty members from the General and Community Pediatrics Division at Cincinnati Children's.
The hours of the clinic are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Friday.
