  • HI Research: Defining New Disease Pathways and Developing Novel Treatments

The Heart Institute’s integrated structure brings physicians, nurses and other clinical staff together with basic, clinical, translational and outcomes research teams to change the way we think about and treat pediatric heart disease. At Cincinnati Children’s we are pioneering pediatric heart medicine by merging the diverse missions of clinical care, research, education, process improvement / outcomes and operations, bringing each of these critical parts into strategic alignment. Interacting on a daily basis and sharing one another’s unique perspectives within the Heart Institute structure will result in defining new disease pathways and developing novel treatments for pediatric cardiovascular disease.

Cincinnati Children’s has world-class efforts under way in basic science and clinical practice in pediatric heart disease. Our clinical program is ranked No. 8 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, and our group of basic scientists is unique in the world of academic pediatric cardiology.
