HHT (Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia)

Cincinnati HHT Center of Excellence

The Cincinnati HHT Center of Excellence is comprised of specialists from a wide variety of backgrounds who care for both children and adults with HHT. Clinic is held three times per month and based at Cincinnati Children’s. The pediatric team works closely with adult specialists to provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages. Patients receive diagnosis, including coordination of genetic testing, treatment and management of HHT through the HHT Center.

Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is a genetic condition which affects one in 5,000 to 10,000 individuals worldwide. The most common symptoms of HHT are:

  • Spontaneous, recurrent nosebleeds
  • Telangiectasias (small red dots) on the mouth, tongue, face and fingers
  • Internal arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) typically found in the brain, lungs, liver, and GI tract
  • A family history of HHT
