• About Us

Dr. Kotagal.Cincinnati Children’s has been committed to transformational quality and process improvement for more than a decade. This journey has changed the culture and focus here dramatically. Today, a commitment to quality permeates our organization from the chairman of the board to the frontline staff. To elevate Cincinnati Children’s focus on quality improvement, and spread the impact of this work, the James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence was created in 2010 and is led by Uma Kotagal, MBBS, MSc.

Within the Anderson Center, there is no limit to knowledge. We strive daily to look beyond the boundaries of current knowledge and clinical application and to challenge conventional thinking. We are driven by a desire to improve locally and transform globally because we know, fundamentally, that our efforts can and will effect change in healthcare, resulting in improved health for patients.

The Anderson Center hears and amplifies the voice of patients and families. We identify best practices, connect research in one area with its practical application in another and partner with outside organizations to bring new knowledge to healthcare. We share our ideas, knowledge and data transparently and collaborate extensively, because we believe that in doing so we accelerate the reach and pace of our improvement as well as that of others.

Throughout this site you will find examples of how we are harnessing the power of improvement science to accelerate change and create leaders who will be the catalysts that transform the delivery of healthcare. If you would like additional information about the Anderson Center, or would like to join us on our journey, we invite you to contact us.
