Neurosurgery

  • About Us

The Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery, named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the country’s top 10 children’s programs in neurology and neurosurgery, is also the largest and most comprehensive pediatric neurosurgery program in the region.

Our multi-specialty teams evaluate and treat nearly every neurologic disease and disorder of childhood, including:

    • neuro-oncology conditions
    • craniofacial abnormalities
    • epilepsy
    • Chiari malformations
    • hydrocephalus and other congenital cysts or lesions of the brain or spine
    • spasticity
    • spina bifida
    • spinal disorders
    • traumatic and post-traumatic disorders of the brain and spine
    • blood vessel lesions such as aneurysms and arteriovascular malformations.

    Fixing the Untreatable

Using technology unavailable elsewhere, our skilled neurosurgeons are able to remove certain deep-seated tumors and other brain lesions previously considered inoperable.

One such technique is SMART (Stereotactic Minimal Access Resection Technique) surgery, which uses special computer-guided navigation to remove lesions with minimal blood loss, pain and scarring. Learn more about SMART surgery and other advanced technologies used for pediatric neurosurgery at Cincinnati Children’s.
