Programs and Services
The National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement strives to advance the learning potential and the positive mental health of children. To meet this goal, the NCSCB experts, based at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, provide a variety of services to community agencies and school professionals to help them deal more effectively with crisis and loss.
Services provided by our experts include:
- Technical assistance related to crisis and loss to school systems, as well as agencies and organizations responding to the needs of children, families and schools
Bereavement Guidelines for:
- Responding to school crisis and trauma
- Handling loss and bereavement in school settings
- Helping families help their children after crisis and loss
- Preparing for anniversaries of a crisis and planning memorial and commemorative activities
Curricula (currently in development) on issues of school crisis and loss for:
- Pre-service education
- In-service education
- Presentations to education and other school-related professionals on issues of school crisis and loss
- Media interviews related to school crisis and loss
