Dance Injury Clinic
Cincinnati Children’s Sports Medicine physical therapists are willing to conduct complimentary medical screenings and evaluations at your dance studio for your dancers. A team of sports medicine physical therapists will be available for a 15-20 minute individualized musculoskeletal exam that will help to identify current injuries or areas of concern. They can also provide information for injury prevention and/or performance enhancement, specific to the needs of your child. The purpose of this service is to ensure the safety and well-being of your child and be a reference for any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child.
What dancers would benefit from the clinic?
- Dancers with a current or previous injury
- Dancers with a family history of musculoskeletal problems such as scoliosis, knee pain or back pain
- Dancers looking for performance enhancement such as increased jumping ability or improved turn out
- Dancers and parents looking for a preventative injury plan such as preventing ACL injury, stress fractures, overuse injuries, etc.
Backed by years of research and continuing education programs, CCHMC physical therapists will be able to provide a comprehensive and collaborative evidence-based treatment plan specific to the problems or areas of concern identified during the initial exam. The therapist will determine if your child requires examination by an orthopedic/sports medicine physician; ongoing physical therapy treatment (which may require a referral from a physician); or if your child would benefit from a structured home exercise program that can be progressed as the child progresses.
