Pain Management

  • Chronic Pain in Children

When a child is experiencing chronic pain, it can be a difficult experience for everyone involved — parents, siblings, friends and especially the child.

Pain is unpleasant, affecting a child’s quality of life, personality and ability to learn in school. And, while chronic pain in children can often be eliminated, that isn’t always the case. In fact, trying to eliminate pain altogether can cause additional problems such as overmedication.

At the Cincinnati Children’s Pain Management Center, we offer personalized therapy that is tailored to each patient’s unique situation. Our specialists take a holistic approach, evaluating every aspect of the child’s life that is affected by pain. We work with patients, families and referring physicians to develop the most appropriate treatment strategies for chronic pain conditions such as chronic musculoskeletal pain, stomach and back pain, and pain related to sickle cell disease, fibromyalgia and reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
