Our rehabilitation team coordinates your child’s treatment. A physician specializing in pediatric rehabilitation medicine − called a pediatric physiatrist − will be your child’s team leader. With your input, the team will coordinate a wide range of medical, therapeutic and supportive services for your child in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
If your child requires treatment in our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, you will be admitted to Location A on the fourth floor. The unit is designed to involve your family in the rehabilitation process and provide follow-up instruction to community caregivers.
We will teach you skills to help you and your child get around better at home and at school. And we will provide follow-up care through outpatient clinics and therapy services. Family support is available through support groups that meet on a regular basis within the medical center.
We provide outpatient rehab services for a wide range of patients with congenital and acquired conditions that result in childhood disability. From the child or adolescent with severe disability to the fully functional patient with musculoskeletal complaints, we can provide care for any patient.
Our outpatient setting provides unique procedures including nerve blocks (botulinum toxin and phenol injections), acupuncture, baclofen pump management, and electrodiagnostic testing which includes electromyogram (EMG) and nerve conduction studies. Our outpatient clinics also help families coordinate special therapy programs and medical equipment needs.
