    Speech pathology staff members have a master’s degree or PhD in speech-language pathology, a certificate of clinical competence (CCC) granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a license from the Ohio Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology.     Biography

    Ann W. Kummer, Ph.D. CCC-SLP is senior director of the Division of Speech Pathology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, and also Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Under her direction, the speech pathology program at Cincinnati Children’s has grown to be one of the largest and most respected in the country.

    Dr. Kummer does many lectures and seminars on a national and international level. She is the author of many professional articles, 16 book chapters in speech pathology and medical texts, and a textbook on craniofacial anomalies. She has a patent on a clinical device and developed a test for the Nasometer (KayPENTAX).

    Dr. Kummer has received honors of the Ohio Speech-Language- Hearing Association; distinguished alumnus award from the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders of the University of Cincinnati; and Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She was named one of the 25 most influential therapists in the US by Therapy Times in 2006 and was named one of the 10 most inspiring women in Cincinnati by Inspire Magazine in 2007.

    Biography

    Kathy Mount, MS, CCC-SLP, provides speech pathology services at Children's Outpatient Northern Kentucky. She has extensive experience in the field.

    Her experience includes working with children 15 months to 18 yearsĀ of ageĀ in both public and private schools, in private practice and in the hospital setting.

    Ms. Mount received both her bachelor's and master's degrees at the Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Her clinical areas of interest include articulation and language disorders, apraxia and autism. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Ohio Speech-Language and Hearing Association. At Cincinnati Children's, she is a member of the Hearing Loss and Deafness Team and the Interdisciplinary Processing Disorders Team.

    Biography

    Jennifer Brown, PhD, CCC-SLP, is the Outreach Coordinator for The Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati.

    In July, 1999, Dr. Brown joined Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the Kelly O'Leary Center to collaborate with families of children with an Autism Spectrum about resources and treatment options available to them.

    Dr. Brown came to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center from Autism Consultation and Training, where she provided ASD consultation to families, school and organizations. Prior to that, she was a speech-language pathologist in private practice.

    Dr. Brown serves on the Board of the Autism Society of Greater Cincinnati and is past president of that organization. She is also past president of the Southwest Ohio Speech, Language and Hearing Association. She also serves on the Regional Autism Advisory Council.

    Dr. Brown has published articles regarding the impact of regression on language development in autism, diagnosis and assessment of developmental disabilities and play in children with autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Brown is a frequent presenter at local, state and national conferences on a variety of topics pertaining to autism spectrum disorders.

    LisaĀ Kelchner, MDĀ is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Cincinnati, where she is dedicated to the graduate education and training of future clinicians and researchers. She currently teaches graduate coursework in the area of voice and swallowing disorders to both campus and distance learning students. Research areas of interest include swallowing, voice and complex airway disorders. She is actively involved in basic, translational, and clinical research focused on how the voice can be used to indicate the competence of the larynx in airway protection and investigating the role of lingual pressures in swallowing disorders. She has established a voice and swallowing research lab at the University of Cincinnati where masters and doctoral students have collaborative projects with area hospitals and physician practices. Since 2005, Dr. Kelchner has been a clinical research affiliate in the Department of Speech Pathology at the Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center where she is part of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to the clinical care and research of voice outcomes in children who post airway reconstruction. Dr. Kelchner has numerous publications and regularly contributes presentations to scientific and clinical forums.

    Donna Murray, PhD, CCC-SLP, isĀ Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and the Director of Clinical Services for theĀ Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and Co-Director of the theĀ Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders in theĀ Division of DevelopmentalĀ and Behavioral Pediatrics atĀ Cincinnati Children's.

    Dr. Murray joined Cincinnati Children's and the Kelly O'Leary Center for Autsim Spectrum Disorders in July 2001 to develop multidisciplinary treatment programs, and community based support for children with autism spectrum disorders. Under her direction, the Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders treatment program has experienced significant growth, serving over 600 children with autism spectrum. In July 2008, Dr. Murray assumed the role of Director of Clinical Services for the Division of DevelopmentalĀ and Behavioral Pediatrics. In this role Dr. Murray develops and oversees multidisciplinary clinical programs and process improvement initiatives for the division.

    Academically Dr. Murrayā€˜s research interests include; language, communication, social skills, autism spectrum disorders including Asperger syndrome and process improvement in healthcare. Dr. Murray teaches graduate level courses in communication and autism spectrum disorders and is a frequent lecturer at the local, regional and national level on topic relating to autism spectrum disorders.

    Bridgitt Pauly, MS, CCC-SLP/A, is dually certified in the areas of Speech Pathology and Audiology. She specializes in working with children/families affected by hearing loss with a variety of amplification devices and communication modes. Pauly is the Chairperson of the Hearing Loss and Deafness Team within the Division of Speech Pathology. She is a member of the Interdisciplinary Cochlear Implant Team at the medical center. Pauly is the Coordinator of Continuing Education within the Division of Speech Pathology. The Division of Speech Pathology is an approved ASHA provider for continuing education credits.     Biography

    Ā Luann Stevens, MA CCC/SLP, is an inpatient Speech-Language Pathologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Burnet Campus.Ā  Her area of interest and expertise is working with patients with feeding difficulties related to complex airway issues, tracheostomy, and aspiration. Another area of specialty is evaluation and treatment of feeding disorders for children with gastrointestinal problems including bowel resection, transplant, eosinophilic esophagitis, reflux and failure to thrive. Luann also performs video swallow studies and FEES examinations. She has been with the Division of Speech Pathology since 1999.
