Leader Profiles

Overview

These Postponing Sexual Involvement (PSI) Teen Leader Profiles are an effort to communicate with those members of our community who can assist in the survival and growth of the PSI program. Through these profiles, civic leaders, educators, parents and student leaders have the opportunity to review profiles of young people who have consented to share parts of their lives with readers. Each leader has faced unique life challenges. Each has managed to navigate successful paths to reach life goals.

These profiles put a face on a program that has existed in the greater Cincinnati area for over 13 years. Through photographs and essays, the reader can get a glimpse into the worlds of teens who have committed themselves to helping other teens.

During the 2002-03 school year, 66 Cincinnati PSI teen leaders modeled behavior and taught preteens or young teens how to cope with the pressures of today – peer pressure, social pressure and internal pressure to become sexually active before marriage. The leaders profiled here have become skilled in creating positive peer pressure for teens their age and younger. They have learned to work in cooperation with adult supervisors and classroom teachers to address many problems faced by adolescents today. They represent numerous teenagers who contribute to the common good in their community.
