Working Together

Among the Very Best Cancer Programs
The Cancer Program continues to earn national acclaim for its achievements in patient care and research. In 2009, our program was ranked fifth in the nation by U.S. News and World Report magazine.

Physicians at the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center work closely with nurses, social workers and other members of the care team to provide early, accurate diagnoses, appropriate medical treatment, family support and patient education. The team encourages patients to maintain a "normal" life, helping them keep up in school and providing treatment on an outpatient, rather than inpatient, basis whenever possible.

Family-Centered Care Philosophy

At Cincinnati Children's, health care providers and family members are partners, working together to best meet the needs of each child. We empower families to make well-informed decisions about their child's care, and we respect the crucial role of family in every aspect of what we do. In 2008, the Picker Institute recognized Cincinnati Children's for its commitment to family-centered care with the Picker Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Patient-Centered Care.
