Comprehensive Testing and Evaluation
The Bleeding Disorders Evaluation Clinic at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center provides comprehensive testing and consultation for patients whose symptoms might indicate a bleeding disorder. Our caring, experienced medical team within the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute includes hematologists (physicians specializing in blood disorders) and nurses.
Patients come to the clinic with concerns that include frequent nosebleeds or other unusual bleeding, unexplained bruising, abnormal blood test results and a family history of clotting disorders.
Cincinnati Children’s offers extensive testing capabilities, including an on-site coagulation laboratory, radiology services and genetic testing.
Among the many diagnoses we see at the Bleeding Disorders Evaluation Clinic are:
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Hemophilia
- Platelet disorders
- Pulmonary embolism
- Thrombophilia
- Thrombosis
- Von Willebrand’s disease
Following the initial evaluation, our medical team talks to patients and their families about the diagnosis and necessary treatment options. The team also provides a written summary of this information for the family and referring physician.
