Comprehensive Care for Other Bleeding Disorders
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center provides extensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with complex bleeding disorders, and also for those with less severe bleeding disorders and platelet disorders, such as von Willebrand’s disease. Our hematologists and other health professionals work together to ensure that these patients receive comprehensive care and enjoy the highest quality of life possible.
Young women in particular benefit from the Young Women with Bleeding Disorders Clinic at Cincinnati Children’s. The Clinic is designed for patients who are experiencing menorrhagia, or excessive menstrual bleeding. Most of these patients have von Willebrand’s disease or a mild bleeding disorder. The medical team includes Eric Mullins, MD, a pediatric hematologist, and Leslie Ayensu-Coker, MD, who specializes in adolescent gynecology.
Our team also includes some of the country’s most innovative laboratory researchers. Cincinnati Children’s scientists have made key discoveries about these diseases and treatments for them, and they work closely with our physicians to speed advances from the laboratory to the clinic.
