A Team Approach to Care

At the Fanconi Anemia Comprehensive Care Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, our specialists take a team approach. This ensures that patients receive the most effective treatment and follow-up care possible.

Depending on the child’s needs, the Fanconi anemia care team may ask other specialists at Cincinnati Children’s to be involved in their care. This is because Fanconi anemia damages cells throughout the body, and affects every patient differently.

These issues can be straightforward or extremely complex, requiring the expertise of specialists from many areas of medicine, including:

Nursing Excellence

Nurses play an integral role on the multidisciplinary team, providing patient care and extensive education. In fact, Cincinnati Children’s is known as a place of nursing excellence.

In 2009, the medical center received Magnet status from the Commission on the Magnet Recognition Program. This is the gold standard for recognizing nursing excellence and collaboration among all care providers and patients. Of approximately 5,700 hospitals in the United States, only 6 percent have achieved status from the Magnet Recognition Program.
