Specialists in Patient Care and Research

John P. Perentesis, MD, FAAP, serves as director of both the Cancer Program and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He is a nationally known expert in the care of children with leukemia, lymphoma and other cancers, as well as in the development of pediatric clinical research studies.

Dr. Perentesis provides national leadership as a member of the Steering Committee for the National Cancer Institute Pediatric Phase I Consortium and for the Investigational Drug Steering Committee. For the Children’s Oncology Group, he chairs the Myeloid Leukemia Relapse Committee and serves on the Steering Committee for Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer. These cooperative groups are developing the next generation of pediatric cancer therapies. Dr. Perentesis’s own laboratory focuses on the origins of childhood leukemia and the ways in which genetic differences influence how people respond to anticancer drugs.
