The Musculoskeletal Tumor Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for children and young adults with tumors of the bone, soft tissue and spine.
Our experienced specialists within the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute treat patients with malignant and benign tumors, including high-risk, secondary and recurrent tumors. The conditions we treat most often include:
- Chondroblastoma
- Chordoma
- Ewing's sarcoma
- Osteosarcoma
- Rhabdomyosarcoma
- Soft tissue sarcoma
- Unicameral and aneurysmal bone cysts
Some of our patients are newly diagnosed, and others come to our program seeking novel therapies for recurrent tumors. Patients range in age from infancy to adulthood. Because Ewing’s sarcoma, osteosarcoma and other musculoskeletal tumors are considered pediatric cancers, even adult patients require ongoing care from experienced pediatric specialists such as those at Cincinnati Children’s. Our center accepts newly diagnosed patients up to the age of 30.
Access to Innovative Research
Our physicians and researchers are active in many national and international research studies, and also develop their own research protocols. This leading-edge research provides our patients with early access to new anticancer therapies, sometimes years before they become widely available.
Cincinnati Children's is a major referral center for the Children’s Oncology Group, the National Cancer Institute's new Pediatric Phase I Consortium and many other national research institutions. Many of our physicians serve in leadership positions for these research organizations, further strengthening our link to the latest clinical research opportunities.
