Pediatric safety is an exploding area of clinical service. Most central laboratories have done little to accommodate the need. Too often, a study site must play a balancing act between test requirements and blood volume when conducting neonatal / pediatric studies.
Drawing from our pediatric experience the Cincinnati Center for Clinical Research Central Laboratory at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is able to analyze small volumes of blood to ensure that all kinds of trials are not compromised. CBCs are tested with as little as 0.25 mL and chemistries with as little as 0.5 mL. Our trial specific kits contain all the appropriate materials to harvest these samples.
