Expert Care for Children When Safety Is the Greatest Concern
When there are concerns about possible abuse or neglect, families often feel overwhelmed and unsure what comes next. At the Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children, our team provides compassionate, trauma-informed care in a safe, child-focused environment. We help children while supporting caregivers through every step of the evaluation process.
Our experts evaluate children with concerns including child sexual abuse, physical abuse, medical child abuse, neglect and human trafficking. As one of only a few hospital-based Child Advocacy Centers in the country, we work closely with community partners to help children receive the care and support they need while minimizing additional stress. We care for approximately 1,800 to 2,000 children each year from throughout Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana.
What can my family expect during a visit?
Every child's situation is different. Your care team will explain the evaluation, answer your questions and help you understand what happens next. Depending on your child's needs, the visit may include a medical examination, conversations with trained professionals and connections to community resources. Additional information is available through our What to Expect and Patient and Family Resources pages.
