Treatment Services

Once abuse and neglect is diagnosed, The Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center meets the needs of abused children and their families by offering:

  • Crisis anticipatory guidance to caregivers of abused children
  • Referral to community therapists and agencies for ongoing counseling
  • Educational materials
  • Financial counseling and assistance through the Ohio Attorney General Crime Victims program

Despite the large sums spent on providing services to abused and neglected children and their families, there are currently only a few proven treatments with limited success. Therefore, The Mayerson Center's vision is to develop and validate long-term treatment programs that work.

Treatment models are developed based on research conducted at the Mayerson Center. Scientifically proven short- and long-term treatments will be established through clinical research protocols. A comprehensive database collection system will track patient outcomes over time and determine further treatment needs.
