Child Life at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers activity centers for children and teens of all developmental levels.
Infant / Toddler Room | Activity Center, Ages 3 and Up | Teen Room
Infant / Toddler Room
While children are in the hospital, they may become frightened or anxious about their surroundings, unfamiliar people and events. By giving patients play materials (toys they are familiar with and comforting activities) children are able to play, feel less anxiety and express or play out their fears and concerns.
Infant / Toddler Room Hours
The Infant and Toddler Room is available for use by patients with their families on the following days:
- Monday – Friday 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
- Monday – Friday 4:30 – 8 pm
- Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 11:30 am – 4:30 pm
Scheduled play sessions are offered in the Infant / Toddler Room at the following times:
- Monday – Friday: 9:30 – 11:30 am
- Monday – Friday: 2:30 – 4:30 am
- Saturday, Sunday and Holidays: 9:30 – 11:30 am
During these scheduled play sessions, families are welcome to participate with their child in play activities or take a break.

Activity Center, Ages 3 and Up
The Child Life staff at Cincinnati Children's offers scheduled play sessions in hospital floor activity centers. Activities include toys and games, arts and crafts, as well as books, videos and music.
Scheduled play sessions are offered on the following days and times:
- Monday – Friday: 9:30 am - 11:30 am
- Monday – Friday: 2 – 4 pm
- Monday – Friday: 6 – 8 pm
- Saturday, Sundays and Holidays: 9:30 – 11:30 am
- Saturday, Sundays and Holidays: 2 – 4 pm
Ask your child life specialist or nurse about the Activity Center on your floor.

Teen Room
When teenagers are in the hospital, they may become anxious or nervous about the environment, unfamiliar people and events. By giving teenagers familiar activities and developmentally appropriate information about medical procedures, child life specialists can help them cope better with hospitalization.
The Teen Room is open seven days a week at the following times:
The Teen Room may be closed for private sessions at various times during the day. You can get a swipe card from your child life specialist for access to the Teen Room.
Families are welcome to participate with their teenager.
