Bio

Sharon M. McLeod, MS, CCLS, CTRS, is an experienced child life specialist and administrator. Since 1992, she has been clinical director of the Division of Child Life and Recreational Therapy at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Sharon has been successful in programming therapeutic activities for hospitalized children, including preoperative teaching, preadmission visitation, in-depth medical play and creative self-expression opportunities. She is also competent in Healing Touch interventions.

Sharon has supervisory responsibilities for Child Life and Recreational Therapy staff, volunteers and students. She conducts inservice training on a medical center-wide basis and serves as external liaison with
community organizations and agencies.

BA: Early Childhood Education, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, 1974.

MS: Recreation Administration with emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, 1976.

Certification: CCLS by the Child Life Certifying Committee since 1986; CTRS by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation since 1976; registered Recreation Therapy Consultant by the Ohio Recreational Therapy Registration Board since 1993; Senior Management Certificate in 2002 from Xavier University.
