Overview
The Therapeutic Interagency Program for Preschoolers (TIP) is a unique community-based project that has combined resources from:
This year-round program for preschoolers intervenes when children have been abused and continue to be at-risk for future abuse, neglect and developmental problems. The children are monitored daily and learn important coping skills.
The Childhood Trust is currently working to gain support for the Therapeutic Interagency Program to achieve two more goals in stopping the pain of abused children. Members of The Childhood Trust are planning to develop training teams to start new Therapeutic Interagency Program in the greater Cincinnati area and to provide scholarships for "non-eligible" children.
There are approximately 1,000 abused children ages 3 to 5 in southern Ohio who could benefit from the Therapeutic Interagency Program. The program currently serves 80 families a year and has received several requests for service.
Of the 1,000-plus abused children in southern Cincinnati, almost half do not qualify for Therapeutic Interagency Program services because they are no longer active cases with Children's Services.
